Design & Classification

  • Designed by Eugène Cornu, built in 1956 at Chantiers Jouët (Sartrouville), France, as Hallali.

  • Constructed with a mahogany double-planked hull and oak/acacia frames.

  • Originally classified as a 12 Metre Cruiser-Racer (12m CR), later listed as a 12 Metre International Rule yacht (12mR) in 1964.

Ownership & Name History

  • 1956–1962: Owned by Franck Guillet as Hallali, raced in France.

  • 1963: Sold to Christian de Galéa, renamed Le Cid, re-rigged as a yawl, and moved to the Mediterranean.

  • 1968–1974: Owned by the Imbert family, underwent restoration.

  • 1984: Briefly owned by Jacques Grout, then transferred to Norway under Björn Tingstad, sailing as Le Cid with sail number NOR-2.

  • 2019: Repatriated to France by descendants of the original owner, restored to her original name Hallali and returned to classic regattas.

Current Status

  • Currently based in Bénodet, France, actively sailing and participating in classic yacht events.
