The Heatherbell Trophy

The Heatherbell Trophy will be inaugurated at the 2026 International 12 Metre World Championship in Marstrand, Sweden, 17–22 August 2026.

Established by the Nyländska Jaktklubben and donated by the Krogius Family, the perpetual Challenge Trophy celebrates the authentic preservation of the earliest International 12 Metre yachts.

The trophy has a remarkable history. The silver chalice was first awarded in 1911 to NJK Commodore Ernst Krogius, owner of Heatherbell, recognised as the first International 12 Metre ever built. Today, the trophy remains in the care of the Nyländska Jaktklubben.

The inaugural Heatherbell Trophy competition will feature Trivia, Vanity V and Vema III.

The trophy is intended to create a long-term platform for preserving, restoring and racing these historic yachts. Its rules are designed to evolve over time, with an increasingly strong focus on authenticity in design, materials, rig, fittings and presentation.

The Heatherbell Trophy is more than a competition. It is a commitment to preserving the earliest chapter of 12 Metre history — and keeping these extraordinary yachts racing for generations to come.
