Two More Races Complete on Day 2 in Imperia

The second day of the 2026 ITMA 12 Metre World Championship delivered two further races in the Bay of Imperia, bringing the series total to five races after two days of competition.

With a steady breeze established across the racecourse, the fleet sailed both races on a 075° bearing over a 1.6 nautical mile course. The wind reached around 16 knots for the first race, easing to approximately 12 knots for the second, providing another demanding day of racing for the six-boat fleet.

At the front of the fleet, KZ 5 continues to set the pace. After five races, the Yacht Club Italiano entry leads the championship on just 4 points, despite carrying a second-place result from Race 3 as her discard.

KOOKABURRA 2 has moved into second overall on 10 points, while KOOKABURRA 3 and KIWI MAGIC remain locked together on 11 points, making the battle for the podium particularly close.

FRENCH KISS sits fifth on 19 points, with SOUTH AUSTRALIA sixth on 21.

With three races completed yesterday and two more added today, the championship is already beginning to take shape—but with the leading boats separated by only a handful of points, there is still everything to race for in the remaining programme.
